Cookies Settings

Last updated September 2026

This site sets two kinds of cookie: the ones Google Analytics needs to tell repeat visits apart, and nothing else. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking here.

Analytics cookies

Google Analytics 4 sets _ga and a _ga_<container> cookie, and Firebase keeps a matching identifier in your browser's IndexedDB. Together they let us tell a returning visitor from a new one and see which services people look at. They expire on their own after two years, or immediately when you clear site data.

We use this to answer questions like which tier gets the most interest and whether anyone finds the free self-assessment. It is not linked to a name, and it is not shared with advertisers.

How to turn analytics off

Three options, all of which we would rather you use than feel tracked. Install Google's official opt-out browser add-on, which disables Analytics on every site you visit. Or turn on your browser's tracking protection — Firefox, Safari, and Brave block these by default. Or use any content blocker; we do not attempt to work around them, and the site works identically with analytics blocked.

There is no consent banner on this site yet, which means analytics currently starts on your first page view. If you would rather it did not run at all, use one of the options above.

The one non-analytics value

Your theme choice is kept in local storage under the key theme, holding one of light, dark, or system. Local storage is not a cookie: it is never attached to a network request, so it never reaches our server or Google's. It exists so the site does not flash the wrong theme while loading, and the site works exactly the same without it.

If this changes

If we add anything beyond what is described here, this page will say so before it ships, and anything non-essential will be off until you turn it on.
