Privacy Policy

Last updated September 2026

This site uses Google Analytics 4, through Firebase, to understand which pages and services people find useful. There is no advertising network, no account to create, and nothing here is sold to anyone.

What analytics collects

Google Analytics records a page view each time you move between pages, and an event when you follow one of a small number of links: choosing a service tier, opening a project, joining the Discord, or starting an email to us. Each event carries the page it came from and, for tiers and projects, which one you picked.

Alongside that, Google Analytics collects what it collects on any site: an anonymous identifier stored on your device, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device, browser, and referring site. We see it aggregated. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors and we do not upload any list of people to Google.

Google is the data processor for this. Their handling is governed by Google's own privacy policy and terms, which we do not control.

Cookies and device storage

Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to tell repeat visits apart, and Firebase keeps a small amount of data in your browser's IndexedDB to do the same. These persist until they expire or you clear site data.

Separately, and nothing to do with analytics, your light or dark theme preference is kept in local storage. It never leaves your device and we never read it.

The Cookies Settings page explains how to switch analytics off.

What our host sees

Like any website, requests reach a web server, which keeps short-lived operational logs — IP address, requested URL, user agent — for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to profile you or combine them with analytics data.

When you contact us

If you email team@scienceux.org, we hold that correspondence for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of any work that follows. There is no contact form on this site, so nothing you type is captured before you press send in your own mail client. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass your details on.

Links to other sites

Several pages link out to third-party tools, articles, our Discord, and our own projects on other domains. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site under their privacy policy, not this one.

Your rights and how to reach us

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be deleted, or object to analytics entirely. Analytics data is aggregated and not linked to a name, so in most cases the honest answer is that we cannot single you out — but we will act on anything we can. Email team@scienceux.org.
