These terms cover this website and the material published on it. Paid work is governed by the written scope and quote agreed for that engagement, which takes precedence over anything here.
Using this site
The site is provided as-is, for information. We keep it accurate but do not warrant that every page is current, that every outbound link still resolves, or that the site is available without interruption.
Service descriptions are not offers
The service tiers described on these pages set out what each tier typically includes. They are an outline, not a contract and not a fixed price. Scope, timing, and cost are agreed in writing before any work starts.
Third-party tools and checklists
The free self-assessment page links to tools and checklists published by other people, including Stephanie Evergreen's Data Visualization Checklist, the Financial Times' Visual Vocabulary, FlawViz, and Harper. Those works belong to their authors and are used under their own terms. We link to them; we do not relicense them.
Our own content
Text, layout, and graphics on this site are ours unless credited otherwise. Our open projects — templates, icons, and tools — carry their own licences, which are stated on those projects and govern their reuse.
Liability
Nothing on this site is professional advice for your specific situation. We are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of general guidance published here. Liability for commissioned work is set out in that engagement's terms.
